They do so many things – A vivid and exciting story can be told; The description of an event or a person’s appearance can be given in detail; Feedback can be offered for something a person read, saw, or experienced; Emotions can be expressed; A message to a loved one can be conveyed in a letter. The list is inexhaustible.
Communication uses words both negatively and positively. Miscommunication happens when the person relaying a subject uses ineffective words to get across their point. Experience in expressing themselves may be a contributing factor as well. There is also a possibility the person doesn’t have a wide vocabulary.
Have you ever thought about how you use your words? And to whom you say them?
You may be aware that words are extremely powerful. If not, then this will all be something new to contemplate. Written or spoken, words have the power to give life or death through the manner in which we deliver them. What I am referring to here is not a literal death or life created, but the destruction or the elevating of someone’s spirit.
When you speak to yourself, is it positive or negative? Are your words uplifting or condemning when you say them to yourself and others?
Now, all this brings me to the law of attraction. In the same manner as words can nurture or poison, they can attract the negative or positive into your life. Meaning they have the ability to bring to you what you declare.
My sister posted in our Fam Chat the other day a video produced by Jake Ducey. He was talking about attracting negative energy and how it is we are doing it to ourselves. I found his video quite interesting and how he explained this phenomenon was fantastic. If you are interested in watching it to gain further insight, there will be a link at the end of my blog.
He discussed three things we each do which are involved in attracting negative energy.
The first was “focusing on what is missing”.
There’s nothing worse than comparing your life to that of another with the perception they have things better than you. That may or may not be true, but it’s not what they have that is the problem. It’s you looking at it and focusing on what you don’t have, or what is missing from your life.
If you would like to own your own home one day, but keep looking at what others have and how much you don’t earn in order to have the same, then when you say “I wish I had a house like theirs. I’ll never own my own home.”, then you are declaring to the world that this will never happen to you. In response to your negative words, your mind will believe it and your actions will live it out, turning your words into a prophesy.
“I’ll never own my own place.” And so it will be.
The second thing Jake spoke about regarding attracting negative energy is “focusing on what it is”.
Now, this may be a strange thing to say, but if you think about it, the statement is true.
Reality is what it is. You can’t change someone or the environment, but focusing on it will only beckon the negative energy your way.
For instance, it might be a fact that you are living in a caravan with two little kids when you really need more space. Focusing on this will only create negative thoughts like “We’ll never get out of here.” Thus, alluring negative energy to you, and keeping you right where you are because you spoke it as if it is a truth.
It is not a truth that you are stuck where you are forever. But it will be if you keep predicting it.
Finally, and thirdly, Jake spoke about how negative energy is kept hanging around by “focusing on what has been.”
Yes, we all have a past. And no, not all of it has been pretty. No-one’s is really. But reminding yourself these things have happened, even if they’ve occurred a few times, is bound to keep the cycle spinning.
“Why does this always happen to me? It’s never going to be any different from all the other times.” is inevitably going to invite negative energy to stick around in order to grant you your own foretelling.
Negative begets negative. Positive begets positive. Reduce the negativity in your life, starting with your words, no matter the mode of communication, and start being more positive in your proclamations. What you put out there will come back to you like a boomerang.
Positive things can happen when the environment is right.
